During this unprecedented time, many Filipinos lost their jobs. As a result of this, finances have dried up or have been empty for a few months since the start of the COVID. It has been difficult for everybody worldwide. Much more so to those low income and average income people like me. Luckily, SSS is trying to give aid to the people through its nationwide Calamity Loan program beginning April 24.
SSS Calamity Loan
The first time I heard about it was from colleagues who have applied and got approved. Almost everyone at work did. As long as the applicant meets the criteria, the application process is going to be hassle-free and quick. Kudos to SSS for that.
Here are the steps I followed to apply for SSS Calamity Loan
1. Go to the SSS website and login with your username and password.
2. If this is your first time, you will need to register first. To register, you may need the following information.
Fill out everything correctly and click Submit. Take note of your User ID because that ID is what you’re going to use to login. You then need to access your email to verify the account. Afterward, you will be asked to create a password. It should be alphanumeric with a minimum of 8 characters.
Once everything is done successfully, go back to the login page. Input your username and password to access your SSS account.
3. After logging in, go to ‘E-Services’ on the menu and select ‘Apply for Calamity Loan’.
On that page, it will show the maximum amount you can apply for. In my case, it’s 15,000 PHP while my friends are able to loan up to 17,000 PHP or even 20,000 PHP.
Select the amount you want. Then, choose your preferred way of receiving the money. I chose the first one, transfer through an enrolled bank. Honestly, I didn’t understand the other option. =) Make sure that the bank account information is correct. Thereafter, click ‘Proceed’.
4. Another window will pop-up showing a summary of your loan.
It includes interest and how much will be deducted to your salary every month. Once submitted, you will receive a text confirming that your application is approved. It usually takes 1-3 days after online application. In my case, I got it the day after.
Verify with your bank if the money is transferred successfully.
That is how I applied, got approved, and finally received my loaned amount. Ultimately, be responsible and consider the amount of money you’re going to loan for. Because it’s all still going to be deducted to your monthly salary.
I might also add that while applying, I already have an ongoing salary loan which started last year. I think it’s why my maximum loanable amount is 15,000 PHP only. Some of my details on my account were incorrect too such as my mobile number, they got the last number wrong. The good thing is there is an option to edit them on the page. So, better double-check all your details before proceeding with any loan applications.
I hope this post helps. Good luck and take care, everyone.
