Hello! How are you all?
I am still alive. No virus whatsoever. Just bored and feeling down sometimes. That is all.
It has been a while since I last posted on my blog. Because of that, I felt a little guilty so I’m writing this update now. Everything is completely fine if any of you is wondering.
I am currently staying with my family which is awesome. What is more is my niece, Zac. She is a bundle of joy and the reason for my sanity these days. She makes me laugh, making each passing day a tolerable day.
This post is about her because I’m glad I have her during these crazy stressful times.
The first fact, she has curly hair.
My sister, her mom, and her dad have both straight black hair. She is the only one in their small family who has curly hair. Like her, I am also the only curly-haired among my three siblings. It was clear that Zac and I got the unique genes from my mom, her grandma.
One day, she told me about those times when people teased her because of her hair. They would call her “Kulot!”, in English, “curly hair”. I think that has caused her some insecurities about herself. Obviously, that wasn’t nice at all. For someone who has experienced the same, I told her that the next time people tease her like that, she should tease them back by saying “ Straight hair!”. Ha! Because why not?
That advice made her laugh but I wanted her to know that it is totally fine to be different. That the most important thing is that she believes in herself she is beautiful. And so, she should not let anyone make her feel and think otherwise.
Every day, I remind her she is pretty because she truly is. I think it is working because she said she does not want to have straight hair anymore. =)
