This post is only a short story about my visual acuity problem because my vision isn’t the perfect 20/20 anymore.
I did notice it first in Thailand that when I looked at everything from afar, they’re blurry. In addition to that, I had headaches more often and eye fatigue. I thought it was only because of prolonged use of the computer at work or reading but in truth, I am getting blind. Ha! Just kidding. Based on my internet research, I have mild visual impairment.
This is how I see it when I look at the trees.
So because of these symptoms, I wanted to have my eyes checked. However, since I was going home to the Philippines, I decided to postpone the check-up and have it done in my home country. I know for a fact that it’ll be cheaper compared to if I have done it in Thailand.
On my second week at home, going to an eye doctor was on my priority list to do. The eye specialist checked my eyes using a machine I don’t know the name of. Then she confirmed that both my eyes have visual acuity problems.
Thereafter, she had me try some lenses and bam, everything was as clear as the sky. Ha! I was so happy to be able to see clearly at the same time worried because it means I will be wearing glasses from that time on.
Total fee including the check-up, frame, lenses and anti-radiation.
I now have a new pair of eyes. Without my glasses, I might not be able to function normally.
Nearsightedness/ Myopia
To give you more information, I have what is called “nearsightedness” or in medical terms “myopia”.
According to wiki, it’s an eye problem where light focuses in front of the retina. Objects from a distance tend to be blurry while closer objects seem normal.
Here are the symptoms:
- more distant objects are blurred
- Headaches
- Squint
- Eyestrain
- Eye fatigue when you try to see objects more than a few feet away
- Children with myopia often have trouble reading the blackboard at school.
The good news is there is a surgery in the eyes that can treat myopia other than wearing glasses or contacts. So it’s not the end for me or everyone with myopia. At the moment, I know mine isn’t as bad as others so I’m still lucky. However, if it continues to progress then, I might elect to have the surgery done.

Mac Burnt Smell from inside
Also, only two days ago, I smelled something burning from my mac air computer. I know it’s entirely my fault because I left it on a table and I think the water was spilled into it. The first thing I did was turn it off. It could be a result of a short circuit somewhere inside.
The smell is coming from the right ports.
If this happened to you, please let me know what you did. I have read that I should wait for 96 hours before trying to turn it on again and wish for the best. Ha! In the meantime, I have put it upside down so that the water can come out from the inside and dry it quicker.
I hope it will still work.
I guess you will know if it still works if I will have a post next week. (For this current one, I am using my aunt’s laptop.) =)

Update as of August 18,2019:
My laptop is still working although the right port was manually disabled by a technician. So, after 96 hours, I initially tried to turn it on but there was the same burnt smell coming out from the computer. It was in that instance that I decided to have it checked by a computer expert. In the end, I saw one who opened it and took parts of the computer which were burned. It all cost me almost 2,000 PHP including the tools and professional fee.
I’m just glad it’s still working. =) Lesson learned for me is to keep it in a dry and safe place and to avoid water near it. Ha!
